Would you really want to know exactly how you're going to die?
That's probably a question you shouldn't ask the creepy fortune-telling machine sitting inside a serial killer's old house. Unfortunately, somebody does exactly that in Harbinger, a new British occult horror movie available on Digital and VOD in the U.S. starting today, August 11.
The story centers on Julia, the sole survivor of satanic serial killer Henry Decker. Five years after narrowly escaping his killing spree, Julia is still dealing with severe trauma, terrifying visions of Decker, and a life that has essentially remained frozen since his death.
Then paranormal TV presenter Mike Craggs comes calling with an opportunity to revisit the house where everything happened.
Because returning to the home of the satanic serial killer who traumatized you with a television crew sounds like an excellent idea.
Julia reluctantly agrees, joining a group of ghost hunters, psychics, occult experts, and production crew members to investigate the house and confront her past. Instead, they discover something waiting inside that probably should have been left alone.
Meet the Harbinger
Hidden inside the house is the Harbinger, a sinister fairground fortune-telling machine with one particularly nasty talent: it can reveal how each member of the group is going to die.
Then those predictions start coming true.
As the body count rises and escape becomes increasingly impossible, Julia discovers that the machine isn't simply some haunted carnival attraction. Decker's soul has been transferred into the Harbinger, leaving the dead killer trapped in limbo and searching for a way back.
To return to the living world, he needs six souls.
Now Julia finds herself facing the same evil she thought she'd survived five years earlier, except this time Decker doesn't need a knife or an unlocked door to reach his victims.
He's got a machine doing the work for him.
Old-School Occult Horror Arrives on Digital
Harbinger leans heavily into occult and supernatural horror, mixing its ghost-hunting setup with psychics, trapped souls, satanic evil, a cursed fortune-telling machine, and what the filmmakers promise will include old-school gore and plenty of gruesome kills.
There's also something inherently creepy about those old fairground fortune machines. They're fun when they're spitting out vague predictions about your future.
Less fun when they start accurately predicting your murder.
Distributed by Miracle Media and Shogun Films, Harbinger runs approximately 82 minutes and is currently unrated. Following its August 10 digital and Blu-ray release in the United Kingdom, the film arrives on Digital and VOD platforms across the United States today, August 11.
If you're into occult horror, paranormal investigations, cursed objects, and supernatural movies that aren't afraid of getting bloody, this sounds like a fun one to throw onto the watchlist.
